Toothy the Timer

Here’s Toothy the Timer, a little project I made to help my kids brush their teeth for the right amount of time. I originally made a through hole version, but I wanted to make an SMD version to help me practice surface mount soldering.

Put it in a more attractive package with a simpler startup and you have yourself a nice little product to sell. Put it on kickstarter too.

It’d probably look a whole lot better as is if it the board was properly fabbed with a mask and silkscreen and actual vias instead of my monkeyed solution…..;^)

I’ve contemplated doing what you wrote by making it into an Arduino shield that you could either run directly from the Arduino or program with the Arduino without the need for the ICSP connection. You’d just need to move a couple jumpers. I’d want to make it all through hole, however, to appeal to the largest number of people. That would make things very tight. Something I’ll have to fiddle with and see how it goes.

I meant sell it as a standalone product aimed at parents with kids. A shield may also be a good idea, but I was thinking $10 @ amazon or something. Good luck.
